Arthur William Bell Three (June 17, 1945 – Apr 13, 2018) was an American broadcaster and author. He was the founder and the original host of the paranormal-themed radio plan Coast to Coast AM, which is syndicated on hundreds of radio stations in the United States and Canada.[2] He besides created and hosted its companion show Dreamland. Retirements and comebacks [edit]

Bell retired and returned to Declension to Declension AM several times.

On October xiii, 1998, Bell announced his first retirement, which was highly unexpected by his listeners. He's winding down, folks, he'south winding down...I don't anticipate he'll do whatever more than shows." On August 19, 2011, Bell announced via Facebook "Phrase for the solar day...Stay tuned!", followed on Baronial 31 by the message "Deplorable for so few posts but we are working on this house every day like dogs, much more soon." On August 20, 2012, Bong spoke of his grievances with Premiere Networks, claiming that he would soon tell the total story of the truth of his retirement. "I am only about ready to tell the existent story of my then-called 'Retirements'. I have asked Premiere to stop the Saturday broadcasts and thus far they accept not washed so, every bit is their legal right. Free speech remains my right. In June 2013, Bell announced on his Facebook page that his official website, artbell.com, would be relaunching. On July x, 2013, a red, white, and blue textual representation of a smiley face was displayed on the website. The site's favicon is a motion picture of a grey alien.[52] On July eleven, 2013, the smiley face was replaced with a red, white, and blue Morse code script that translated to "Wanna have a ride?".[53]

On July 29, 2013, Bell officially announced a render to the airwaves with a launch date of September xvi, 2013. His new show Art Bell's Dark Matter was broadcast on SiriusXM satellite radio'south Indie Talk channel (channel #104), Monday through Thursday from seven PM to 11 PM PT with repeats during the rest of the night and "best of" shows airing on Fridays.[54] His official website was updated on that date to include the announcement.[55]

On Nov 4, 2013, Bell left Night Matter after merely six weeks.[56] [iv]

On November 7, 2013, Bell announced and began testing for potential Internet streaming sources.[57]

Midnight in the Desert radio evidence [edit]

On July 20, 2015, Bong returned with his new show Midnight in the Desert. The show aired on the internet Dark Affair Digital network and on 45 stations (20 of which signed on before the show started) from ix PM to midnight PT. He also started transmitting on shortwave radio on WTWW at v.085 MHz too.[ citation needed ]

On Dec 11, 2015, Bell appear that he had permanently stepped down as host of Midnight in the Desert due to concerns almost his family unit'due south safe.[58] Bell had reported multiple instances of someone shooting firearms at and near his property in the fall of 2015.[59] The show Midnight in the Desert continued with new host Heather Wade, and soon subsequently Fine art'due south expiry Dave Schrader became the host. Bong fabricated the occasional guest host appearance.[60]

Fine art Bell died Apr 13, 2018, at age 72 at his home in Pahrump, Nevada.[61] An autopsy was scheduled for the post-obit days to determine the cause of his death.[62] [63] He had suffered from health problems in the previous years. He posted on his website in July 2016 that he was hospitalized for pneumonia and revealed at the fourth dimension that he suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary affliction.[64]

On August 1, 2018, the Las Vegas Review-Periodical reported the Clark County coroner's office findings. The coroner's office stated that Bong died of an adventitious overdose from a cocktail of prescription drugs. Bell wrote, or co-wrote, several books, including The Quickening: Today'due south Trends, Tomorrow's World; The Fine art of Talk (an autobiography); The Source: Journey Through the Unexplained; The Edge: Man'southward Mysterious By & Incredible Time to come; and The Coming Global Superstorm (co-authored with Whitley Streiber), which became the basis for the popular movie, The Day Afterward Tomorrow.[ commendation needed ]
